Special guest narrator Don McCue

We are pleased to announce special guest narrator Don McCue, the director of A.K. Smiley Library, for our performance of Aaron Copland’s “Lincoln Portrait” on Veterans Day Nov. 11, 2018, at 3 PM.

This classical orchestral work features excerpts of Abraham Lincoln’s great speeches, including the Gettysburg Address. Famous narrators have included Neil Armstrong, Tom Hanks, Charlton Heston, James Earl Jones, Margaret Thatcher, and President Barack Obama. It is only fitting that a longtime fixture of the Redlands community and the person who oversees the Lincoln Memorial Shrine fill such a prominent role.

McCue worked as a researcher at the National Archives. He took over the special collections division of the A.K. Smiley Library in 1986. He was named the director of A.K. Smiley Library in 2013.
