Charles Yoh

CONCERTMASTER, FIRST VIOLIN

Born and raised in Southern California. I started piano at 8 and then switched to violin at 10. I played in the South Coast Youth Symphony Orchestra which was in residence at the Orange County High School of the Arts. Afterward, I went to UC Berkeley where I continued music in the San Francisco Youth Symphony and University Symphony orchestra. I also studied abroad in France at the Université de Grenoble. I was active in the orchestra of the l’Association Vivaldi. I then went to New York Medical College where I was involved in the NYMC Chamber Music Society. I currently work as a physician for Beaver Medical Group. In addition to playing in the RCO, I play in my string quartet. I have been fortunate to attend master classes with members of the Daedalus Quartet, Enso String Quartet, and Telegraph Quartet. My past teachers include Janet Travers, Robin Cecil, and Juanita Jackson. Outside of music, I enjoy spending time with my wife and two girls. I am also an avid aquarist.
